My best idea for increasing the visibility of DVD collections in libraries was to first connect titles to a list. For example, SWAN Libraries has book covers on a slideshow connected to the New York Times Best-Seller List. Depending on how well a film does at the box office, a title can show up on DVD in a couple of months or in a matter of weeks. I found that a comparable list of “best-sellers” for film is the RottenTomatoes.com Top DVD & Streaming List. There are three available sorts of the list — Release Date, Tomatometer, and, the one I think would work best, Popularity. The DVD covers could be connected to a slideshow which would link to the title’s entry in the library’s catalog.
