{"id":485,"date":"2019-05-31T19:21:07","date_gmt":"2019-06-01T00:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.valsadie.com\/librariesval\/?p=485"},"modified":"2019-05-31T19:25:54","modified_gmt":"2019-06-01T00:25:54","slug":"library-ebooks-streaming-and-glam-toolshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.valsadie.com\/librariesval\/library-ebooks-streaming-and-glam-toolshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Ebooks Streaming and GLAM Toolshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/librariesval\/lists\/library-ebooks-streaming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Library Ebooks Streaming List<\/a> grew out of my wanting to have a Twitter List of the various electronic and online products out there for libraries &#8212; which I noticed are advertised not so much by what they can do, but by the various forms of content that they make available to the user, including books, newspaper and magazine articles, music, movies, television, audiobooks, concert performances, and videogames. Also increasingly in that space are user-made media, from both non-professionals and professionals, of podcasts that discuss that content, so I added those, too. The list description captures this kind of hodgepodge: &#8220;Library Streaming Services. And ebooks! Podcasts! Databases!&#8221; Feel free to compare it to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valsadie.com\/valsadie\/news\/\">Media TODAY Twitter List<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>And so my <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/librariesval\/lists\/glam-toolshop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GLAM Toolshop List<\/a> is the flipside, specifically collecting the products &#8212; some of them Open Source &#8212; that are used to display and distribute this content, by the GLAM &#8212; galleries, libraries, archives, and museums. It points up the similarities that these institutions have in making their collections more accessible, especially to those who will never approach their physical entrances.
